Q. What Windows Mobile? platforms does anthaVPN support?

Q. Which Windows Mobile? -based devices have been tested with anthaVPN?

Q. How do I copy a file from my desktop to my Windows Mobile?-based device?

  1. Activesync with your desktop.
  2. Click Explore.
  3. Drag the file that you want to copy to the Explorer window.
  4. At this point, Activesync will start converting and copying the file to the device.

Q. Is it possible to store passwords on a Windows Mobile?-based device using the IPSec client? Are these secured in any way?
The password you enter when creating the Security Policy is stored in an encrypted database. The VPN gateway can override the local anthaVPN password storage policy.

Q. Does anthaVPN support digital certificates (PKI)?
Yes, anthaVPN does support digital certificates created with Entrust 6.0 software. The Certificate needs to be exported in the PKCS#12 (*.p12, or *.pfx) format.

Q. How do I do a network Activesync?

  1. Establish a partnership by Activesyncing to your desktop.
  2. In the Microsoft Activesync program on the desktop, select file connection settings.
  3. Check the allow network(Ethernet) and Remote Access Service (RAS) server connection with this desktop.
  4. Dialup or VPN into your corporate network, go into Activesync on the PDA, then hit sync.
  5. Activesync will sync any changes that have been made and disconnect.
  6. If sync fails, verify that your PDA is able to ping IP of desktop.
  7. Verify your PDA can ping WINS name of desktop.
  8. If your PDA uses a PPP driver (Dial up connection) go to Start/ Settings/ Connections/ Connections/ Modify/ Advanced and manually enter specific server Name Server information. Use the internal WINS server as the primary and possibly even the IP of the desktop as secondary.
  9. If your PDA uses an NDIS driver (Network adapter) go to Start/ Settings/ Connections/ Network Adapters/ < adapter in use >/ Properties/ Name Servers and attempt to enter specific server Name Server information. Use the internal WINS server as the primary and possibly even the IP of the desktop as secondary. (Note: It may be necessary to have the DHCP server or 802.11b Wireless Access Point assign the appropriate Name server information.).

Q. I can connect to my VPN Gateway but I am experiencing performance issues. What tools are available for tweaking antha?

  • For connections that require you to stay connected for a large amount of time, you can set the IPSEC Lifetime. Edit your profile and go to the sixth page.

Q. What tools are available for troubleshooting and checking my connection Statistics?
anthaVPN comes with a suite of tools to help you troubleshoot and check statistics for your connection:

  • View Log: Get detailed error information during the negotiation of the tunnel
  • IPSec Policy: List the routing table for the tunnel. You can check the routing table to see whether packets destined to a certain destination will be routed through the tunnel our bypass the tunnel
  • IPSec Status: This view will provide status of your connection such as Gateway IP, Client IP, DNS/WINS information, and certain gateway setting
  • IP Packet Statistics: Shows how many packets are encrypted, decrypted, bypassed or dropped during communication
